Can't stick with tracking your spending?

Updated 2026-10-16 · 3 min read

Short answer
If you can't keep up with tracking your spending, it's usually not because you're lazy; the task is just too long: open the app, find where to add an entry, type the amount, choose a category… and right after paying you're often in line or walking, with no time for it. The fix is to shrink logging to a single action right after you pay, and to make looking back at your spending clear at a glance.

The hard part isn't logging, it's remembering

This is how it goes for a lot of people: the first week, you're diligent; the second week, entries start slipping; by the third week, you stop opening the app. Most of the missing entries are the ones you meant to "log later", and later you forgot.

Log the second after you pay

So Kongbei Ledger does one thing: right after you pay, phone still in hand, press the side button. It takes a screenshot, reads the amount, you pick a category, and it's logged in 3 seconds. No opening an app, no hunting for the right screen: logging becomes the last step of paying.

Don't aim for perfect

Picked the wrong category or need to fix the amount? Tap the entry in the dashboard later to change it, or delete a wrong one outright. Getting it down matters more than getting it perfect.

Look, don't judge

Kongbei Ledger doesn't score you or push investment products. Mostly it lays out where the money went: how much more you spent this week than last, which day cost the most, which categories it all went to. If you want to keep some spending in check, you can give a few categories a monthly budget; leave it blank and it stays out of your way. Once you see it clearly, you'll know how to spend the next one.

My own numbers

I built Kongbei Ledger for myself and use it every day: over the past year I logged 1,274 entries, about 3.5 a day.
